Peter Webb, the managing director of Axiom, said: "This award is the reward for all the hard work and dedication of the Axiom team, their ability to help develop the business through the provision of the highest levels of quality and service and their ability to accept change in order to progress system and process development which has allowed us to remain at the forefront of the UK veterinary diagnostic referral sector."

The laboratory was established in 1980 in Teignmouth as Bloxham Laboratories to provide a clinical pathology service to veterinary surgeons throughout the country.
Peter Webb joined the founding partner Dr Peter Bloxham in 1986.
In 1997 the company was sold to Heska inc, a Colorado based U.S company and Dr. Peter Bloxham retired through ill health.
A change of business direction allowed Peter Webb to buy the company in 1999 and the name was changed to Axiom Veterinary Laboratories.
In 1998 the company became ISO 9002 certified and in 2003 upgraded to ISO 9001.2000 and also became the first European College Veterinary Clinical Pathology approved training facility in the UK.
Axiom Veterinary laboratories has close links with the University of Bristol Veterinary School and since 2003 has funded the Axiom Clinical Scholar in Veterinary Clinical Pathology. Axiom has satellite facilities in London [Laboratory], St Helens [Laboratory] and Dublin [All-Ireland Service].
Since 2000 the business has grown considerably. It currently occupies our NEW
11,000 sq foot facility in Newton Abbot. This will allow us to benefit from smoother workflow, with all technical facilities being based on one floor. Axiom employs over 50 people, including 10 specialised clinical pathologists.

Beacon Status is supported by the South West Regional Development Agency.

AXIOM'S CLINICAL SCHOLAR
AxiomVetLab - Clinical Scholar in Veterinary Clinical Pathology at Bristol University

Pictured are Peter Webb (MD) Axiom Vet Lab, Mark Pinches the current AxiomVetLab clinical scholar, Emma Dewhurst the former Petsavers clinical scholar who has joined the team at Axiom '2003
and Kostas Papasouliotis, Bristol University Veterinary School.

The Department of Clinical Veterinary Science at Bristol University was one of the first Veterinary Departments to offer a training programme leading to a specialist post-graduate qualification in Veterinary Clinical Pathology. When the previous three-year Petsavers scholarship was completed, Kostas Papasouliotis entered into discussions with Axiom Veterinary Laboratories to continue the sponsorship of this training programme.

Axiom Veterinary Labs were keen to promote training in Veterinary Clinical Pathology and as a result a unique collaboration was established between the two parties.

Peter Webb (MD) of Axiom Veterinary Labs, commented: "This is a superb opportunity to share expertise and information, which will enhance the already high reputations that Bristol University and Axiom have in the field of Veterinary Clinical Pathology". Kostas Papasouliotis lecturer in Clinical Pathology at Bristol said, "Our aspiration is that after the three-year training our scholar will contribute to the development of veterinary clinical pathology in either an academic or commercial post. Collaborations between commercial diagnostic labs and veterinary schools can turn this aspiration into reality".
