'Visceral mast cell tumour in a dog'
CLINICAL EXAMINATION
On clinical examination, the dog was dull but responsive and was underweight
although the abdomen appeared to be distended. Abdominal palpation revealed
a firm cranial abdomen and a fluid thrill consistent with free abdominal
fluid. Respiratory effort was increased and lung sounds were harsh bilaterally.
Mucous membranes were pink and moist and CRT was <2seconds. Marked hindlimb
weakness was present with proprioceptive deficits, although it was difficult
to determine whether this was associated with generalised weakness or a
neurological deficit. |
